Honestly, it wasn’t anything special.
One day I was scrolling through Rednote and saw this girl carrying the cutest crochet bag. I thought, where did she buy that? — turns out, she made it herself.
Even better, she shared the full video tutorial, like, one or two hours long, the FULL version. So without even thinking about whether it was hard, I just ordered the same yarn and hook, and started following along.
At first, it was a total mess.
She kept saying things like “single crochet” and “double crochet,” and I had no clue what that meant. I kept pausing the video, googling every step, and somehow... I made it to the end.

The bag wasn’t perfect — the stitches were uneven, I definitely messed up in some places, and no, I wasn’t going to unravel and redo it. But you know what? I still loved it. It was a little small, so I don’t really use it, but every time I see it, it makes me smile.
Crocheting that first bag helped me forget, at least for a while, the anxiety of being unemployed for two years and starting over again.
And maybe that’s enough — to find something new, something that feels good, and slowly get better at it.
Next thing you know, I gotta do something with the leftover yarn — and that’s how the spiral began.
